“What were you thinking?” He asked.
“You don’t really want to know.” She thought.
“What? Nothing to say for yourself?” He demanded.
“Nothing I know how to say.” She thought.
“I’m a patient man.” He said.
“Too patient.” She thought.
“I’ve put up with your childish antics as long as any man could be expected to.” He said.
“Longer.” She thought.
“Are you just going to stand there?” He asked.
“Yes.” She thought.
“Don’t you have anything to say to me?” He asked.
“If only words were enough.” She thought.
He huffed and shook his head in frustration. She knew exactly how he felt.
“How many times have we been here?” He asked.
“One too many.” She hoped.
“This can’t keep happening.” He said.
“You’re right.” She thought.
“Maybe this just isn’t going to work.” He said.
“Not like this.” She thought.
“Do you want me to leave?” He asked.
“NO!” She thought.
“Say something.” He demanded.
“No.” She whispered.
“No what? No, I shouldn’t leave? No, this isn’t going to work? No, you have nothing to say?” He said.
“Don’t leave.” She whispered.
“What do you expect from me?” He asked.
“Nothing. Everything.” She thought.
“You know I love you.” He said.
“Do you?” She thought.
“But, I’m tired of this. All of this. It has to stop, right here, right now.” He said.
“So make it.” She thought.
“I don’t know what else to do.” He said.
“You never do anything.” She thought.
“You tell me to leave and I’ll leave.” He said.
“Didn’t we just settle that?” She thought.
“But if I’m going to stay it’s going to be on my terms.”
“Name them.” She thought.
“It’s going to hurt.” He said.
“You wouldn’t.” She whispered.
“You will probably cry.” He said.
“You couldn’t.” She said.
“I’m going to spank you.” He said.
“Promises, promises.” She thought.

I like how you got inside her head and at the double thought-track that can happen.
I love both stories! You really "get" the idea that we can sometimes want something desperately, but not be able to ask for it.
